In order for you to possess a NFA item, an understanding of what one is should be step one. An 'NFA Item' is any type of firearm covered under the National Firearms Act. This act sets forth all of the requirements for possession of said items. NFA items would include: suppressors (silencers), short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short barreled shotguns (SBSs), machineguns, and any-other-weapons (AOWs) to name a few.
To purchase an NFA item, such as a suppressor, you must meet the requirements set forth by the BATFE NFA Branch, and provide the following documentation:
- A form 4 in duplicate
- Two sets of fingerprint cards
- Two Passport photos (of yourself)
- A certificate of compliance letter
- And $200 for your 'tax stamp' to possess the item you wish to purchase.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the BATFE NFA Branch
, or shoot us an email
at EOS. We will be glad to point you in the right direction.
